“I was assigned to live edit for the three staff photographers who were on the ground in Derry to cover the funeral of Martin McGuinness, the IRA Chief turned peacemaker. Technology now allows photographers to transmit images direct off the back of their camera within seconds to an editor anywhere in the world. The captioned and edited image will then be with the newspapers within minutes of it being shot. This image from @mitchelljeff was one of the first images I received and it really stood out to me. There was a sea of mourners who had turned out for the funeral to walk beside Irish tricolour-draped coffin as it made its way through his native Bogside, republican area of Londonderry.
